Spring is the ideal time for cleansing and rejuvenation for overall health and well-being and corresponds to the ‘Wood’ element in Chinese Medicine which is conceptually related to the liver and gall bladder organs.
Stress, overworking and poor sleep are a few of the factors that can cause Wood imbalances, leading to symptoms like:
• Anger, irritability
• Holding grudges
• Hormone imbalances
• Neck and shoulder tension and discomfort
To help our Wood element stay balanced:
*Get physically active – this is a great time to start a regular exercise routine, get outdoors daily and move your body.
*Stay flexible – since the Wood Element corresponds to the sinews, or the tendons and ligaments, stretching is also really important during Spring. Yoga is fantastic.
*Take action – start acting on projects and ideas that were brewing in the winter months.
*Detoxify – because the liver and gallbladder correspond to the Wood element, spring is a great time for gentle detoxification. Add more dark leafy greens, spring vegetables and berries which support this element.
